There was a time, Starkville Police Department Lieutenant Mark Ballard said, when the SPD typically trained for hypothetical scenarios alone.
The Starkville Kiwanis Club sponsors several civic projects every year. This year they contributed to the Girl Scouts, Make a Dream Foundation, and the county volunteer fire departments.

After dropping a heartbreaking loss in Auburn Saturday, No. 25 Mississippi State will have to quickly rebound.
AUBURN, Ala. – The game between the No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs and the defending national champion Auburn Tigers came down to one play Saturday.
It was MSU quarterback Chris Relf's call.
The No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs dropped their Southeastern Conference opener 41-34 to Auburn, but they were still able to take positives back to Starkville with them.
SOUTHAVEN – The results may not have shown it, but Saturday was a productive day for the Starkville High volleyball team according to head coach Lauren Love.
