The Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s board of trustees honored multiple city, county and campus organizations for their efforts to preserve local historic landmarks during the board’s visit to Mississippi State University last week for its quarterly meeting.

That’s exactly how football coach Dan Mullen and the Mississippi State Bulldogs saw themselves entering the season after seven weeks of football.

“I can’t speak for the Alabama side of things,” Mullen said during his Sunday teleconference. “Our guys wanted to be in this position to play in this game and they expected coming into this season that this is where we would be.”

1st phase of fiber optic work nears completion

Starkville Electric Department General Manager Terry Kemp said the first phase of the city’s long-term infrastructure upgrade is nearing completion and the department should be able to begin implementing automatic utility metering by Thanksgiving.

MSU pulls away; Bulldogs overcome sluggish start for win

The 15th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs overcame a sluggish start and put away from the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on homecoming night at Davis Wade Stadium.

The 45-3 victory enabled the Bulldogs to remain perfect at 7-0 for the season.

It took the Mississippi State Bulldogs a little while to get going on offense Saturday night.
Once MSU starting clicking, it looked more like the 15th-ranked team (Associated Press poll) in the country and poured it on the visiting Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.

There were a few bumps along the way before the Bulldogs came away with a 45-3 homecoming victory at Davis Wade Stadium.

When Banks picked off Middle Tennessee quarterback Logan Kilgore in the third quarter of Saturday night's 45-3 MSU victory, it was a history-making moment for the Maben native.
