Seniors contribute to success for SHS volleyball

For one group of seniors at Starkville High School, they waited a long time to have their night in the lights.

Michaela Mills, Jamiyah Covington and Stacie Young are the only three seniors on the SHS volleyball team, and they played their last regular season match in the Beehive on Tuesday night.

Motion to reopen Redbud removed from city agenda

A resolution presented in the Starkville Board of Aldermen’s e-packet Friday to reopen public access to the western Redbud Drive entrance was removed from the agenda and will not be addressed at today’s 5:30 p.m.
meeting in the City Hall courtroom, Chief Administrator Lynn Spruill confirmed Monday.

County authorizes squad car purchases

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors unanimously authorized the sheriff’s department to purchase new patrol cars at its meeting Monday.

The department will receive 15 2013 Dodge Chargers as part of a lease-purchase contract with Jackson-based Joe Usry Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
