Motorists will soon see new Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department cars when driving around now that the first four of 15 recently purchased 2013 Dodge Chargers to replenish the fleet have arrived.

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors unanimously authorized the purchase of the vehicles in September.

Teammates one more time: SA's Pellum, Phelps play in All-Star game

Drew Pellum could get the benefit of one more block from Cole Phelps this afternoon.

The duo from Starkville Academy made the South All-Star team and participate in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools All-Star Game in Clinton. Kickoff from Robinson-Hale Stadium on the campus of Mississippi College is set for 4 p.m.

Eupora hopes third time charm for title

EUPORA – Twice before the Eupora Eagles have lined up for the State championship game and on both occasions, they came up short.

Today, the team is hoping the old adage “third time is a charm” rings true.

The Eagles have prepared for the game and hopefully their first state championship win, but the team does know that the Bassfield Yellowjackets are going to be no easy foe.

French Camp has grown, matured during season

Coach Nathan Wright has watched his French Camp football team grow and mature this season.

The Panthers have improved to the point where it has landed them in the Class A State championship game.

French Camp makes its first State championship appearance today when it takes on Stringer. The first game of the day from Mississippi Veterans Stadium kicks off at 11 a.m.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest late Wednesday in connection with a series of car burglaries reported in the area of New Light Road Monday.
Johnathan Jeffery Emerson, 18, of 1237 John High Road, was charged with multiple counts of burglary of a vehicle and is being held in Oktibbeha County Jail on an undetermined bond amount.
