With summer steadily coming to a close, the cook-outs, family reunions and revivals are in full swing.

One of the greatest traditions to come out of the South is the deviled egg. While Southerners are not responsible for the dish’s inception, they are certainly accountable for the preparation and clockwork-like delivery of this get-together staple.

The Starkville Board of Aldermen unanimously approved to hire Taylor Adams as the city’s new director of finance at its meeting Tuesday night.

Adams’ first day on the job will be Aug. 1. His salary will be $73,500.

MSU Foundation year breaks record with $86M in gifts

Mississippi State University officials reported Tuesday that the MSU Foundation raised $86.4 million during the 2012 fiscal year, breaking the previous year’s record of $80.3 million by more than $6 million.
