Mississippi State hosted over 100 of the top athletes across the Southeast on Friday night for the annual Big Dawg Camp.Â
Seven of MSU’s 11 commitments were on hand to showcase their talents and while most performed at a high level, B.J. Hammond definitely stood out. The 6-4 receiver from Gadsden, Ala., ran solid routes and seemed to get to find the football with ease.Â

After 30 years, the Summer Scholars on Stage program will once again raise the curtain for its newest original musical comedy.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a Thursday-morning string of car burglaries in the area of Cardinal Lane, a residential road in western Oktibbeha County.

The Starkville Parks and Recreation Board named Herman Peters interim director at its meeting Thursday.
Peters will fill the position left vacant after former Director Matthew Rye officially stepped down from his duties during the meeting.
The fact that Mississippi State defensive back and former East Webster player Johnthan Banks received additional All-Southeastern Conference recognition on Thursday at SEC Media Days was nothing new.
Banks had already been selected All-SEC by the league's coaches, Phil Steele, Athlon, Blue Ribbon College Football, Football Yearbook, Birmingham News, Lindys and USA Today.

Starkville Electric Department officials unveiled and began work on a long-term infrastructure upgrade Wednesday which will use fiber optic cables to eventually implement public Wi-Fi access and automatic utility metering.

Mississippi Horse Park Director Bricklee Miller says a local engineer is currently developing plans to repair the facility’s damaged harness racing track, but funding is needed to go forward on the project.
Once repair plans and cost estimates are finalized, Miller said she will approach the Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors about funding options.
