Viewers in Starkville and surrounding areas hoping to catch ABC programming on the local affiliate station WKDH will instead see a blank screen starting Sept. 1.
The station, which has been active since 2001, is going off the air at midnight Aug. 31.

Twenty-five years after its inception, the Starkville Area Habitat for Humanity program is celebrating a milestone when volunteers begin building the non-profit’s 50th house.
One week before the high school football season kicks off, most teams are playing in some type of jamboree or playing an exhibition game.
For West Oktibbeha and East Webster, the two programs square off against each other tonight in Maben. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. following the West Lowndes and French Camp game at 6 p.m.
The college sports world is gearing up for the opening day of football season, and in just over three week’s the South’s favorite pastime will be at hand.
However Thursday in the Humphrey Coliseum, the Mississippi State Bulldogs were talking basketball.Â
The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets believe they have taken the necessary steps to see success on the slow-pitch softball field this season.
After coming off the spring fast-pitch season and a summer of participating in the fast-pitch league at the Starkville Sportsplex, the Lady Jackets are hoping the work pays off in the slow-pitch game.
