Starkville Animal Control officers have responded to two separate calls within the past three weeks regarding large pet snakes who escaped from their owners and were found roaming around the vicinity of Campus View Drive and Mary Lee Lane.

JACKSON â It turned out to be an easy Class 5A, Region 2, District 6 opener for the Starkville High School Yellowjackets.
After beginning the season with a 1-3 record against tough non-division competitive, Starkville went on the road to defeat the Jackson Lanier Bulldogs 48-0 on Friday night.
The Starkville Academy Volunteers may have been an underdog in Friday night's matchup with Jackson Prep.
Starkville Academyâs head coach Jeff Terrill talked to his team before the game about how the Volunteers wanted to play the game.
âWe need to play our football,â Terrill said. âWe need to play hard, fundamental football.â
COLUMBUS â For the East Oktibbeha Titans, the road to the playoffs just got a lot harder.
The Titans fell to Class A, Region 3, District 4 rival West Lowndes 14-0 Friday night at Panther Field.
The Titans are now 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the district, while the Panthers improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Oktibbeha County Sheriffâs Department Commander Brett Watson said the victim in a shooting on Pierce Road Tuesday night will not cooperate with authorities in their investigation.
Authorities have not yet issued any formal charges in relation to the shooting, which occurred earlier this week.

I saw a landscape of a waterscape tower, and was inspired to sketch and paint a landscape of a scene of water. What is a water tower? It almost looked like a tall insect with an elevated tank to give pressure for distributing water to citizens of Starkville, which has been known as having the most refreshing and tasteful water in all of Mississippi.
