The Golden Triangle Kennel Club welcomes hundreds of canine enthusiasts with its annual dog show Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Mississippi State University Horse Park.
GTKC President Nancy Boden said entries increased for this year’s competition with approximately 600 participants scheduled to attend.

Mississippi State University President Mark Keenum used the Mississippi Economic Council’s annual Capital Day meeting in Jackson as a platform to announce a $6,000 scholarship paid over four years for each student-winner in MEC’s Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program.
Mr. John Henry Davis, 84, died Dec. 31, 2012 at his residence in Starkville.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 12, 2013 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Starkville with Rev. Lee Brand Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Starkville.
TULARE, Calif. — Mrs. Joyce Joy was born on Sept. 24, 1931 to James and Thursa Solomon of Oklahoma.
Memorials services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Church of Christ in Tulare, Calif.
A private family burial will follow.
Miller's Tulare Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She worked as an accountant for several school districts over the years.
Officials confirmed Thursday three people died during a Wednesday blaze, including a volunteer firefighter with District 5 Fire Department.
According to Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department, the deceased are 92-year-old Celia Craig Robson, her grandson, 23-year-old Samuel Razi Morris and 48-year-old Geraldine Bradford Rice.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Bulldogs (6-7, 1-0) trailed South Carolina (10-4, 0-1) for most of Wednesday night, but were able to pull out a 56-54 victory at Humphrey Coliseum in the opening game of the Southeastern Conference portion of the schedule.Â
Mississippi State women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer has watched his team take one step forward one day, then two steps back the next.
Even though there have been some tough moments since he became the coach of the Bulldogs, Schaefer has had "fun" working with a young and inexperienced team.
David Turner will be making a return to Starkville.
On Wednesday, it was learned that Turner was returning to the Mississippi State football coaching staff as the defensive line coach.Â
Turner is taking over for Chris Wilson, who left to take the defensive line coaching position at Georgia.
Turner was the defensive line coach at MSU from 2007-2009.Â
