COLUMBUS â€“ The Midfield (Ala.) Patriots are No. 1 in their classification for a reason.
On Saturday afternoon at the Joe Horne Christmas Classic, the Patriots showed the Starkville Yellowjackets why they are so well-respected in Alabama.
Midfield went on a 16-0 run after Starkville had taken a lead in the fourth quarter and ended up defeating the Jackets 76-64.

Dr. Kirk Patrick Arnett was born to Mildred Kirkpatrick and Gus Arnett of Columbus, Mississippi on March 29, 1946 and passed away in Starkville, Mississippi on December 19, 2013 after a lengthy cancer battle.
Mississippi State was fined $25,000 by the Southeastern Conference for violation of the SEC's Artificial Noisemaker Policy during the 2013 football season.
SEC Commissioner Mike Slive made the announcement on Friday.
The fine was due to the cowbells that Bulldog fans ring during games. The league allows them in games, but can only be used at certain times during the game.
