City narrows CAO search

The search for Starkville’s new chief administrative officer has been narrowed to three finalists, whom the Board of Aldermen named Tuesday night at its recess board meeting.

The board will interview Starkville City Clerk and Director of Finance Taylor Adams, Michael Anderson of Decatur and Andrew Ellard of Hattiesburg, beginning at 4 p.m. Jan. 7 in the City Hall courtroom.

Kristie Williams says her Starkville Lady Yellowjackets team is really starting to come together.
“We are starting to gel more as a team and that is great because everybody knows Blair Schaefer and Imane Montgomery, but we also have other players who are willing to step up and do their part,” Williams said. “Sometimes they don’t have the same notoriety, but they work just as hard.”

MSU's Cunningham has fond memories of event

Starkville High School quarterback Princeton Jones was rewarded for the progress he made last season as he was recognized as the Quarterback of the Year in Class 6A, Region 2.
With all of the talent that can be found at quarterback in the region, coach Jamie Mitchell of the Jackets was happy that Jones was considered the best.

MSU defensive line has 'good mindset'

The Rice Owls haven't really been on the mind of the Mississippi State Bulldogs in bowl practice until Wednesday.
The MSU coaching staff finally started to put in some gameplan at practice and get the Bulldogs accustomed to the Owls.
For the defensive line, they came out with a good mindset and defensive line coach David Turner noticed.

Mr. Ullin D. Schmitz, 86, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in the North MS Medical Center in Eupora.  Funeral services  will  be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 19,2013, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Trey Harper officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County.
