The Starkville Planning and Zoning Commission recommended city approval for nine land use requests from First Baptist Church at its meeting Tuesday, adding some conditions that an FBC representative says have caused concern among church members.

JACKSON — Officials estimate it will take tens of millions of dollars to repair damage at the University of Southern Mississippi caused by Sunday’s tornado.
Mrs. Sharron Ann Hall, 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at her home in Maben.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Johnson Creek M.B. Church in Pheba with Rev. Bruce Guyton officiating.
Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Maben.
Visitation will be held 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel in West Point.
A bill to consolidate the school districts of Oktibbeha County and Starkville passed through the Miss. House today.
The bill's next stop will be the state Senate. If it passes through, the districts will merge into the Starkville Consolidated School District effective July 1, 2015. The current attendance zones and school district boundaries would remain in place under the bill.

The first opportunity for the Starkville School District Board of Trustees to discuss a state House bill that would consolidate the city and county school districts yielded encouragement from the board to stakeholders to call their representatives and make their opinions known.

Oktibbeha County District 3 Supervisor Marvell Howard called a special meeting Tuesday at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse Annex to inform county residents about legislation to consolidate the Oktibbeha County School District and the Starkville School District and voice these residents’ concerns to legislators.
Annette Poitra Irby, 48, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at her residence in Starkville.Â
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 in the Welch Funeral Home chapel in Starkville.
Burial will follow in Adaton Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
