JACKSON (AP) — Supporters say bills to guarantee religious freedom in Mississippi public schools are meant to ensure students can talk about spiritual beliefs and aren’t deprived of their rights.
But some supporters also say the measures would legalize prayer before school audiences, and that makes people who advocate for separation of church and state uneasy.

It was a long day of baseball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but a successful one.

A score will be settled at the Starkville Sportsplex soccer field today.
After battling to a tie, not once but twice, during the regular season, the Starkville Academy Volunteers and Pillow Academy Mustangs meet in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs found the going tough offensively against the LSU Lady Tigers Sunday afternoon, especially in the second half.
With only 16 points to show in the second 20 minutes of play, the Bulldogs didn't produce nearly enough to secure a Southeastern Conference victory and dropped a 63-41 decision to the Lady Tigers at Humphrey Coliseum.

It was Sept. 26, 1971 as my car headed towards Longview. I was cruising and looking for a face, a place and everything else to paint on that glorious day. We all loved Catherine, and she was a sweet and dear part of our family.
