Seeing success: MSU is headed in right direction

Mississippi State athletics are on the rise, if the past year's success is any indication.
Most of MSU 15 sports teams saw a good bit of success in the 2012-13 sports year. Several teams had their best teams ever.
MSU put 10 of its teams into the postseason.

Project AIM seeking new mentors for local youth

For Brother Rogers, mentoring is a two-way street.
Rogers said his mentee enjoyed the change of pace compared with daily school work and benefited from a positive relationship with a role model. Rogers said he, too, benefited from mentorship.

Starkville Americans stay in winner's bracket

After weather cancelled action on day one, the Dizzy Dean 8-year-old State tournament got underway Saturday morning.
Playing their first game was the Starkville Americans team who took the field against the All-Stars from Eupora.
When all action ceased Starkville claimed a 13-5 victory to move forward in the winner’s bracket.

Starkville Nationals win two to move on

As many in town were just getting started Saturday morning, the Starkville Nationals All-Star team was busy taking the field for their first game of the Dizzy Dean 8-year-old South State Tournament.
Facing Mathiston the team fought hard but in the end lost the game 18-3.

Starkville 12-year olds pick up a pair of wins

July 6, 2013

COLUMBUS – Saturday began for the Starkville 12-year-old Dizzy Dean All-Star team with a continuation of game one which had been suspended due to weather.
As Friday’s contest ended Starkville held a 9-6 lead over Ackerman in the third. Saturday the team added 11 runs as Starkville claimed a 20-7 victory.
