Little Egg on line: Starkville, Oxford play with trophy to winner

Tonight's football menu at Starkville High School comes with a little bit of egg.
The clash between the Starkville Yellowjackets and the Oxford Chargers has been given the title of Little Egg Bowl and there will be a trophy awarded to the winner.

The Starkville Academy head coach leads his Volunteers against the East Rankin Academy Patriots at Volunteer Stadium at 7 p.m.
The Volunteers (0-1) are coming off a loss to Lamar School and the Patriots (0-1) are coming off a loss to Central Hinds Academy at home.

When the Eupora Eagles and French Camp Panthers look across the field, it might appear that way.

There are several questions that will have to be answered, and the former Bulldog volleyball player will be using this weekend as a test for her young team.

SA mixes up lineup in Thursday's softball loss

Kayla Mosley decided to shake things up Thursday afternoon with her the lineup.
The Starkville Academy head coach moved Karlie Lockhart to catcher and put Maridee Higginbotham in the circle in her stead.
Although the change wasn't immediately seen in a 12-2 five-inning loss to the Lady Vikings of Central Academy, it will help in the long run.

Watch DOGS to kick-off

Sudduth Elementary is offering a new way for fathers to get involved in children’s school days.

This evening, the school will host a launch event for the Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students) program. The school will hold the event at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Dovie Thomas Reed, 95, passed away on August 27, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. She was an Avon representative and member of Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crafts. 

MSU secondary to be tested by OSU offense

It will be baptism by fire for the Mississippi State secondary come Saturday.
The Bulldogs open the season against one of the better offenses in the country in No. 13 (Associated Press) Oklahoma State in Houston, Texas.
