Hester to compete in state Distinguished Young Women 2014 program this week

Bell Hester had no intention of pursuing a title in the Distinguished Young Women of Starkville program, much less the Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi. Yet on Thursday, she’ll be one of 33 girls competing in preliminary rounds at the Temple Theatre in Meridian for a chance at more than $40,000 in scholarships.

Robert Rochelle

Robert Peyton Rochelle, age 66, passed away on July 15, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, July 18 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville from 4-6 p.m.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from Zebco Motor Guide where he was a Materials Manager for 30 years.

This week Mikala Taylor and Jack Bryan venture to Jackson to represent Starkville in the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star tennis match.

Once again the Bulldogs are having a difficult time gaining national respect in the preseason.
A few weeks ago Phil Steele came out with his bowl projections for the postseason and MSU was not to be found in that listing.
