Leland Mitchell: Devoted family man with heart

Former Mississippi State basketball player Leland Noyal Mitchell was remembered Thursday as being a devoted family man, friend and teammate who had a big heart.
A celebration of the life of Mitchell, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 72, was held at the Welch Funeral Home chapel.

Improvements being made at SA baseball field

There has been a little bit of construction going on at Starkville Academy and specifically at the baseball field.
According to head baseball coach Jody Britt, some much needed improvements to the field are being made.

Wetherbee lends expertise to MSU athletic department

Scott Wetherbee has never been in charge of media relations.
With that being said, the new Mississippi State senior associate athletic director for external affairs, understands what is driving media relations these days.
It's social media.
"Obviously, the big thing is technology and the changing of all of our social media platforms," Wetherbee said.

Board probation decision unclear

Much the same way the Starkville Board of Aldermen has left its decision to terminate Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Spruill’s employment with the city undefined, so has it left the reasons behind its decision to place City Personnel Officer Randy Boyd on a 90-day probationary period.

Sturgis PD to undergo restructure

Sturgis Board of Aldermen will hold a called meeting at 5:30 p.m. today to discuss how it will organize Sturgis Police Department in the future as the town fills vacated positions for police chief and police officers.

Baptist church offers drive-thru prayers
