CANTON â€“ Starkville High School's boys basketball team was trying to extend its season as long as it could Tuesday night.
The Yellowjackets knew that a loss would be the end of the campaign and they were not ready for that to happen, so they fought through two overtimes.
Even though Starkville took the game into the extra frames, it still came up short to Canton 60-59.
MADISON â€“ The East Webster Wolverines moved one step closer to a division title as they knocked off Ackerman 59-53 on Tuesday.
Though his team picked up the victory, East Webster coach Corey Stidham knows it has to play better heading down the stretch if it wants to advance towards a state championship.
Tim Goliday had the experience of winning not only one State football championship with the Starkville Yellowjackets, but two in 1994 and 1995.
Fast forward 17 years later and Goliday gets to share in another State championship with his son TeQuan.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Griffin United Methodist Church in Starkville with Rev. Elston C. Kemp officiating.
Burial will follow in Fox Cemetery in Starkville.

Mr. H. Dean Bunch, 97, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 after complications with pneumonia.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Starkville with Rev. Buren Blankenship officiating.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at the church prior to services.
