OXFORD – Mississippi State and Ole Miss didn't get to play much baseball Friday night.
Rain started to following as the No. 24 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs (36-13, 13-11) were warming up in the bottom of the first inning.
The umpires pulled the Bulldogs off the field at 6:42 p.m. and shortly before 7:30 p.m. a decision was made to suspend the game. The game was scoreless.
The Starkville High School Yellowjackets have one last track meet to run before hanging up their shoes this track season.
With 16 athletes in tow, the Jackets take to the track today for Class 5A State championship competition at Pearl High School.

Only one series stands between the East Webster Lady Wolverines and a possible date in the Class 2A State championship.
East Webster will embark on that journey, starting today, as it welcomes Baldwyn to its home field for a best-of-three series and the Lady Wolverines are ready for the battle ahead.

Mrs. Annie Louise Boyd 75, pass away May 6, 2013 at The University Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
The Funeral Service will be held Saturday May 11, 2013 at First John Baptist Church, Starkville, MS with Rev. Lee Peeples officiating.
Burial will be at Boyd Cemetery in Starkville, MS.
She was a Retired Nurse Asst.
Funeral services are planned for Charles Henry Thomas, Jr., 78, of Shuqualak on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at First United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Payton Myers and Rev. Andy Pearson officiating. Interment will be in Shuqualak Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Mr. Jeremiah Marshall 75, pass away May 5, 2013 at his home in Starkville, MS.
The Funeral service will be held Saturday May 11, 2013 at Griffin U.M. Church in Starkville, MS with the Elder Eddie Jones officiating.
Burial will be in North Union Cemetery, in Bellefontaine, MS.
Mr. Marshall retired from Slaughter Chevrolet and the City of Starkville, MS.
Joe Daniel Cooper, 88, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Louisville,
Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Boyd Chapel
United Methodist Church,Sturgis, Mississippi with Reverend Roosevelt Gage, officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 2013 from 1-6:00 p.m. at West Memorial
Chapel.

According to a SPD press release, several residents have received texts, phone calls, and messages saying their Cadence Bank accounts have been temporarily deactivated and require a cell phone number to reactivate.
