Bulldogs to play the Delta Devils

Rick Ray is facing another obstacle in his young head-coaching career.
The Mississippi State head men's basketball coach saw his starting point guard helped off the court last Thursday night and learned on Friday that he will be sidelined for two to four weeks.
IJ Ready will sit out with a strained, inflamed hamstring, leaving a void at the point guard position.

New trail becomes regional attraction

In 2003, Mississippi Tennessee Railroad, LLC gave notice of abandonment of a stretch of railroad between Houston and New Albany. Ten years later, the former railroad is seeing traffic again, with walkers, bicyclists, and skaters treading where trains once traveled.

The 43.5-mile Tanglefoot Trail is now open, giving northeast Mississippi residents a new locale to exercise and enjoy nature.

Frank Davis is, to those who know him, a model of community involvement.

Davis, a longtime Starkville resident and former Mississippi State University professor, is active in many facets of the Starkville community, whether they be the university, his church or championing causes of public interest. He’s also worked on a global scale to fight world hunger.

With all the injuries that have affected Mississippi State this season, it would be easy for head coach Dan Mullen to throw his hands up and give up.
Sophomore quarterback Dak Prescott missed Saturday's game against Alabama after suffering what Mullen calls a "stinger" against Texas A&M two weekends ago.

SHS begins Class 6A playoffs with strong effort

For years, teams have found success in football at Starkville High School.
The Yellowjackets were the Class 5A State champions last season. This year they look to repeat that success, but there is one little change. Instead of competing in Class 5A, Starkville is playing up a class in 6A.

Grant, Bulldogs cruise to victory

There was no slow start for Mississippi State women's basketball player Kendra Grant on Sunday.
Grant made 6-of-6 shots from the field in the first half, including both 3-point field goal attempts for 14 points as the Bulldogs scored 61 points by halftime.
MSU didn't look back and defeated New Orleans 111-38 at Humphrey Coliseum to improve its record to 3-0 this season.

Mr. Parker Roberson. 78, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at his home in Maben.
Private Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the Roberson Family Cemetery in Webster County. A visitation for the public will be Monday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora.

Defense keeps Bulldogs in game with Tide

Mississippi State's defense were thrust front and center on the national stage and accepted the biggest challenge of the season.
The Geoff Collins-led Bulldog defense did everything it could to give their offense a chance, but in the end it wasn't enough.
The Bulldogs fell 20-7 to No. 1 Alabama Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium for their third-straight loss.
