Funeral services for Ms. Evie Jewel Tatum Vance will be held at 2pm, Saturday, June 22nd at Milling Funeral Home Chapel, Union, MS. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00pm prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Rev. Chris Harrison officiating.
Mona Manning Lyon was born on December 17, 1926 to George Warren Manning, Sr. and Mattie Hughes Manning on a farm near Drew, Mississippi. She attended the Drew public schools and graduated from Drew High School in 1943. While a student at Mississippi State College for Women, she was Business Manager of the school newspaper and graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1947.
OMAHA, Neb. – Thomas Edison and Chad Girodo have something in common according to Mississippi State pitching coach Butch Thompson.
Edison, a 19th century inventor, and Girodo, a left-handed pitcher for the Bulldogs, both overcome obstacles to until success knocked on their doors.

I am enjoying my time in Omaha, Neb., and so are the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Luke Buckner is excited about the possibilities as he enters the second season as the coach of the Starkville Christian Lady Cougars.
After going through one season already with the Lady Cougars, Buckner believes they will be ahead of the game moving forward just because the coaching philosophy won't change.

For two of the three proposed historic districts in Starkville, months of anticipation and opinionated debate came to a head at the Starkville Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday night. Following the last in a series of public hearings, the board passed proposals and standards for historical districts on Greensboro and Nash streets.
The Maben Board of Aldermen approved a contract with Calvert-Spradling Engineers in West Point to improve Louise Street, the city’s industrial park road, at a recess meeting Monday.
