Jackets knock off Falcons

For Greg Carter and his Starkville Yellowjackets, the past few days have been focused on one thing and one thing only.
That attention was on the Columbus Falcons.
The Jackets dropped a road decision to the Falcons in early December.
SHS avenged that loss Friday night.

The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers started and finished Friday night's Class AAA, Division II game well.
After jumping out to a 31-8 lead in the second quarter, the Lady Vols saw the visiting Pillow Academy Lady Mustangs make a 12-0 run in the third quarter and cut the margin to 37-30 after three quarters.

Bulldogs seek to bounce back against Aggies

For all the ups and downs the Mississippi State Bulldogs have encountered this season, they have yet to lose two games in a row.
The Bulldogs are 4-0 this season coming off of a loss.
MSU looks to push that stat to 3-0 today when it plays host to Texas A&M for a Southeastern Conference game. Tipoff is set for 12:47 p.m. inside Humphrey Coliseum and can be seen on SEC- TV (locally on WCBI).

MSU women not happy with latest loss

Mississippi State junior center Martha Alwal was not her happy, joyful self following Thursday night's 67-63 loss to the Tennessee Lady Volunteers.
In the past, even with some losses, Alwal would be able to keep a smile on her face.
It was different after falling by four points to the 12th-ranked team in the nation.

Report: MSU’s Collins offered extension

Pete Roussel of has reported that Mississippi State defensive coordinator Geoff Collins was offered a raise and an extension on Friday.
Mississippi State didn’t confirm the report by press time.

Bulldogs can be found in various football All-Star contests

Although their careers with the Mississippi State Bulldogs may be over, two players have one more chance to prove what they bring to the gridiron.
Running back LaDarius Perkins and linebacker Deontae Skinner will both be playing in All-Star games Saturday.
Offensive lineman Gabe Jackson will also play in an All-Star game, the Senior Bowl, but it isn’t scheduled until next Saturday.

Starkville Academy picks up home soccer win

The Starkville Academy Volunteers picked up a win over Hillcrest Christian on the soccer field Monday, but coach Cole Andrews said it did not feel like a true win.
On Friday, the team changed all that as the Volunteers picked up a “confident” 3-0 victory over visiting Washington.
