MADISON â€“ Madison Ridgeland Academy has a strong second-half comeback on Wednesday night as it defeated Starkville Academy 48-35 at home in high school girls basketball action.
After taking a 10-8 lead and stretching the margin to 20-15 at halftime, the Lady Volunteers were outscored by MRA 17-7 in the third quarter and 16-8 in the fourth.

Mr. James Harvey Doss, 91, passed away at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.
James Harvey was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and a retired drill operator with B&W.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Doss Brewer; father, James Andrew Doss; and sister, Gurtis Mae Doss.

Fourteen high seniors who plan to attend a Mississippi college will have the opportunity to earn scholarship money through the 2014 Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus Scholarship.
The caucus will award the $1,000 scholarship to three applicants from each of Mississippiâ€™s four congressional districts and two at-large applicants.

The true freshman was a standout wide receiver for the football team this past fall and has joined the basketball team this winter.
