Bulldogs beat rival: MSU edges Ole Miss in second OT meeting of season

There was a second meeting of rivals that went into overtime on Sunday.
The last time it happened between the Mississippi State and Ole Miss women, the Rebels claimed the prize.
It was not the case Sunday in Starkville.
In another tightly-contested ballgame, the Bulldogs walked away with a 72-70 victory at Humphrey Coliseum.

The Starkville High School Lady Yellowjackets let an opportunity to win the Class 6A, Region 3 championship slip through their fingers last Friday night.
Despite dropping a 60-53 decision to Northwest Rankin in the region tournament finals, Starkville's season continues.

MSU loses in baseball, sees record fall to 4-4

Baseball is a game full of odd bounces and marginally thin lines drawn in the sand.
Mississippi State learned about that the past two games.
After winning the first two games in the series against the Holy Cross Crusaders, MSU dropped the last two games of a four-game weekend series, a 6-1 loss on Sunday at Dudy Noble Field.

It was a good start for the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the baseball field on Saturday.
When a doubleheader is involved, there has to be two victories in the bag for it to be considered a successful day.

Saturday certainly has somewhat of a Super Bulldog Weekend feel to it on the campus of Mississippi State.
Fans were bouncing back and forth from women's tennis to softball to basketball to baseball as all sports were showcased.
There was even activity going on at Davis Wade Stadium as the Bulldogs were hosting Junior Day in football.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs found themselves down by double digits late in the game again.
MSU made another push, but just like recent games, it wasn't enough.
The Bulldogs dropped a 73-69 decision to Arkansas at Humphrey Coliseum on Saturday afternoon to extend their season-long losing streak to nine games.

MSU improves to 13-0 with 5-0 win over Iowa

Wins just keep coming for the Mississippi State softball team.
The Bulldogs produced strong pitching, defense and hitting, bringing their record to 13-0 with a 5-0 victory over Iowa.
“Pitching stays consistent when the defense stays consistent,” MSU coach Vann Stuedeman said. “We had timely hitting and we were able to get another win.”

Starkville Academy's girls see season end

MADISON – A chance to move on to the Mississippi Association of Schools Overall State championship was on the line, but ultimately Starkville Academy's season came to an end with a 51-39 consolation game loss to Jackson Academy.
