CLINTON â€“ The football did not bounce the way of the Starkville Academy Volunteers in their quest for a state championship on Saturday.
Oak Forest (La.) may have claimed the 37-12 Class AAA, Division II State Championship victory, but the Volunteers are more than proud to have been able to represent their school and community in the final game.
Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Director of Activities Les Triplett gathered the football players of Starkville Academy and Oak Forest, La., and wanted to make sure they understood something.

Patsy Robertson MacLemore of Starkville, Mississippi, age 61, passed away at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks in Verona, MS on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from breast cancer. She was born on November 28, 1952. She was a member of Eupora Chapter #261 Order of the Eastern Star.
The Starkville Academy Volunteers won their last football state championship nine years ago.
The 2014 Volunteers have the chance to accomplish that same feat today.
