Bulldogs take on Longhorns in softball

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have not had very much success against the Texas Longhorns historically in softball.
Texas owns a 3-0 series record over MSU and the Bulldogs have failed to get a run against the Longhorns.
Cat Osterman even threw a perfect game for Texas in a 2-0 win against Mississippi State during the 2005 NCAA Tournament.

Area high schools plan graduations

Valedictorian Will Klein and Salutatorian Kelley Mazzola will lead Starkville High School’s graduating class of 2014 during its commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. May 23. at Humphrey Coliseum.

Klein’s parents are Stephen and Marie Klein. He plans to attend Centre College in Danville, Ky. and major in neuroscience.

Mid-Week Market already growing customer base

The Greater Starkville Development Partnership rolled out its new Mid-Week Market last week. The event’s second installment was Tuesday, and although the number of vendors is currently low, the event’s organizers say it has been successful.

The Tuscaloosa native attended Shelton State Community College in Alabama out of high school, and contemplated attending the Southeastern Conference university in his home town.
Instead, he accepted a scholarship offer from Mississippi State.

Starkville to be tested in jamboree by Brandon

Starkville High School football coach Jamie Mitchell wanted a challenge for his team at the end of spring practice.
It comes in the form of the Brandon Bulldogs.
The Yellowjackets and Bulldogs meet in the second half of a four-team spring jamboree today at Davis Wade Stadium on the campus of Mississippi State.

Wolverines respect way the Eagles play

MABEN – There won't be much need for scouting the next opponent for the East Webster Wolverines.
As members of Class 2A, Region 2, the Wolverines and rival Eupora Eagles met twice during the regular season.
East Webster won an 8-2 decision at home and also defeated the Eagles in Eupora, but the result was much closer at 7-5.
