SHS coaches believe tournament at MSU's Hump was biggest one yet

It contained 14 games over two days with a field of multiple strong teams from across the Southeast.
Those are the qualities possessed by the 2014 Travis Outlaw Slam Dunk at the Hump Christmas basketball tournament and in its fourth year, the annual event hosted by Starkville High and held on the campus of Mississippi State certainly did not disappoint.

Yellowjackets bounce back: SHS caps tournament with victory

Competition in the Travis Outlaw Slam Dunk at the Hump came to conclusion Saturday evening and it did so with little fanfare.
After leading all game, the Starkville Yellowjackets rebounded from a day one loss to defeat Restoration Academy (Ala.) 52-33.

Lady Jackets jump out to better start for win

The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets wanted a better start on Saturday than it had on Friday.
They got it.
After falling behind early in a 59-51 loss to Harrison Central in its first game of the Travis Outlaw Slam Dunk at the Hump, Starkville responded in a big way against the Eupora Eagles on the second day.

There were some question marks entering the season for the Starkville High School basketball teams.
The Lady Yellowjackets lost two very good perimeter players in Blair Schaefer and Imane Montgomery, while the Jackets came in missing their entire starting lineup from last year.

Aberdeen registers convincing victory over Miller McCoy

Basketball competition came a little slower pace for those in attendance at the Travis Outlaw Slam Dunk at the Hump Saturday.
Unlike Friday, which ended with a double overtime contest between Starkville and Southwind, the second day's games were much more decisive.
In the Miller McCoy Academy and Aberdeen matchup, the Bulldogs claimed a convincing 55-37 victory.

Bulldogs seek to end season on high note

Mississippi State football was taken to new heights this season.
For the first time in the 115-year history of the program, the Bulldogs climbed to the No. 1 spot in both the major polls – the Associated Press and Amway Coaches. The Bulldogs were also No. 1 in the inaugural College Football Playoff poll.

Holidays in Starkville have included hoops over the last four years.
Once again, Starkville High School is hosting the Travis Outlaw Slam Dunk at the Hump and the last game of the first day turned out to be the best.
The Yellowjackets and Southwind took the situation to double overtime before the the Jaguars claimed a 75-72 win.

SHS girls continue learning process during Friday loss

It continues to be a learning process for the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets this season.
Whether it be a win or a loss, the Lady Jackets are finding out how better to manage the games they are in.
