Thomas Woodrow (TW) Jaynes, Jr., 74, passed away on December 23, 2014 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Maben, MS.

Joe E. Grissom, age 81, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. He was born July 21, 1933 to Grady Daniel Grissom and Bethel Long Grissom in Holland, MO. He lived most of his life in West Point and the past eight years in Aberdeen.

Player of the Year: Davis performs at very high level for Yellowjackets

The Starkville Yellowjackets only had quarterback Brady Davis for one season.
What a season it turned out to be.
Davis had one of the best years ever for an SHS quarterback and led his team to the Class 6A North championship game. For his accomplishments, Davis was chosen the Starkville Daily News High School Player of the Year.

Prescott, Robinson carry MSU rushing load

Mississippi State's running game has featured two players this season.
Junior running back Josh Robinson and junior quarterback Dak Prescott have carried the load in the rushing department. Robinson leads the Bulldogs with 1,128 rushing yards. He also has 11 touchdowns.
Prescott was second on the team with 939 rushing yards and has a team-high 13 touchdowns with his legs.

About 3.5 years ago, Charles Evans lost his wife Louise.
It was that loss, he said, that led him to begin decorating not only his house but his entire property on Hancock Street for Christmas, filling a wooded area adjacent to his house with lights, inflatables and other decorations. He said Louise always loved decorating for Christmas, and these decorations were a way to honor her memory.

New home for Christmas: East Webster breaks in gym with tournaments

MABEN – East Webster High School got to unwrap a Christmas present early when it began using a new gymnasium for basketball competition.
After a tornado destroyed the school and old gym in 2013, a newer and better one was constructed.
The new home of the Wolverines has more of a "college feel" to it.
