Hodgepodge festival to highlight music, family

Thanks to a host of local musicians and an army of community volunteers, this weekend will see a lot of love poured onto a sweet, local family.

Over the Aug. 17-18 weekend, Rick’s Cafe will host the Hodgepodge Music Festival featuring 18 different musical acts all playing and singing to benefit Liam Hodge, the son of Ben and Selena Hodge.

The Starkville Planning and Zoning commission recommended approval of a final plat for a new phase of Huntington Park, removing a condition concerning fire code compliance after deciding the issue was not relevant to the request.

Bulldogs in secondary show 'ball hawk' skills

Ball hawk is the term used in football circles as a player who has the propensity to find the football.
When looking at the Mississippi State secondary, several players fit that billing.

The Bulldogs have 29 career interceptions among the likely four starters in the back end of the MSU defense.

Lady Volunteers see shutout loss at home

There were two numbers, six and zero, that didn't rest well with Starkville Academy soccer coach Robert Gardner Tuesday afternoon.

The inability to defend the middle 60 yards for Starkville Academy led to a 6-0 loss to Jackson Prep at the Starkville Sportsplex soccer complex.

SHS sweeps Aberdeen in straight sets

It was a successful return of head coach Lauren Love following the birth of her first child as the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets volleyball team defeated the Aberdeen Lady Bulldogs in straight sets Tuesday night.

With the victory, Starkville improved its record to 3-3.

SA Lady Vols drop twinbill at home field

The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteer softball team found a lead early, but were unable to hold onto it.

The Lady Vols fell to Parklane Academy 13-5 in five innings in game two of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Lady Volunteer Field.
