While Ruth Morgan's visit to Starkville's Church of the Living God was meant for gathering old photographs of the Do-Right Church in the Needmore Community, her search led to a surprising revelation and veritable historical jackpot.
It was Sept. 26, 1971 as my car headed towards Longview. I was cruising and looking for a face, a place and everything else to paint on that glorious day. Earlier, I had phoned my old baby nurse, Catherine Yeates, and told her I would pick her up so she could baby-sit Little Frank for a few hours. We all loved Catherine, and she was a sweet and dear part of our family.
I love to talk and especially love to hear myself talk â€” much to the chagrin of those with whom I share the planet. So, Iâ€™m understandably puzzled by the increase in texting and tweeting which involve no use of the vocal chords whatsoever.

Saint Valentine's Day is February 14, but Valentine's can be every day of the year.
Visual artists have creative ways to express themselves when they suddenly become inspired within their hearts and souls. I felt inspired to suddenly create and design a very free-spirited and very whimsical painting on a most unlikely canvas. This time the canvas would be our big wrap-around front porch.
Iâ€™m still mulling over the messages delivered by television advertising during the big game on Super Bowl Sunday. Seems to me television advertising is supposed to encourage us to buy things we donâ€™t need with money we donâ€™t have. I would do it merrily if I could identify which products they were pushing.Â

Once again, Valentine's Day is almost upon us. This "holiday" of sorts is the perfect time to show your significant other how much he or she means to you and what better place to do that than in the kitchen.
