Jones: Making the most of ADD

January 19, 2013

Next time you see me on the street, be sure to ask about my attention deficit disorder (ADD), or my spinach recipe or my dogs. I have a bike. Do you like TV? I saw a rock. Hi.

This is the way my mind works most of the time and it’s as confusing to me as to my friends and family. My ADD has gotten so bad, I should qualify for a handicap parking pass.

Last day of August, Catherine Yeates

January 13, 2013

I’m again sharing with you another painting and story about Catherine Yeates, my baby nurse. I captured Catherine slowly strolling along Greensboro Street on the very last day of Aug. 31, 1984. For Starkville Daily News

As I write this column in the increasing light of a still-optimistic January morning, I think of my new favorite quote, by Thoreau of all people:

“Rise free from care before the dawn and seek adventures.”

Check and check. Now to find some adventures…

Catherine Yeates, my baby nurse

January 6, 2013

I am very delighted and happy to share with you one of my very favorite portraits. The medium I used was water color on a 14 inch by 20 inch hard water color board. I hope that you will love this painting and story as much as I loved having the honor of presenting it to you today.
