In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, legislators, media and the public at large are talking about arming teachers with guns. Downtown Martial Arts Academy (DMAA) owner Doug Bedsaul wants to arm them with knowledge.

The Mississippi All-State Honor Choir has accepted all 22 of the SHS Singers who auditioned, clearing these SHS Singers to perform with the choir April 6 at the University of Southern Mississippi's Bennett Auditorium.

Rex Ames believes in the value of the electoral college.
Ames, a senior at Starkville High School, was a finalist in Mississippi's Promote the Vote Oratory Competition in Jackson in November. The question at the center of the debate was whether or not the Electoral College should continue or be abolished, and Ames chose the "pro" side.
March 9th
Starkville High School Senior Rex Ames received Mississippi Promote the Vote's UNO Award, and SHS was named Model Promote the Vote School Program for the state of Mississippi March 1 in Jackson.
