Cecil Clinton Gray, Sr. of Starkville proudly wore his gold jersey with the black No. 46. He was a football player for Starkville High School and served in the Navy. He did beautiful cabinets and worked at the Starkville Daily News as a route carrier. He requested his body be given to science, with no funeral or memorial.
Robert Ford of Hoover, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013, at the age of 88. He served in the U.S Navy in the Pacific during WWII. Mr. Ford graduated from Mississippi State University on May 23, 1949, and was married to his wife, Dorothy that same day. He retired from South Central Bell after 36 years service.
Kristee Harpole Trammell (51) was granted her angel wings on Sunday, August 18, 2013. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whose lives were inspired by her incredible spirit. A memorial service were held Monday, August 19, 2013, at 6:30 p.m.
Leonard Harpole McMullin, of Mathiston, was born January 18, 1955, in Anderson, IN, and died August 13, 2013, at University Memorial Medical Center, Jackson, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash. Leonard graduated from Anderson University and attended Olâ€™ Miss before entering a career in construction project management that led him to Hawaii and overseas.
Thomas Wayne Oâ€™Brian, formerly of Maben, passed away at his home in Chatsworth, Ga. on Aug. 3, 2013. He was 64 years old.
Thomas Wayne is survived by his wife, Deborah Oâ€™Brian; brother, Donald Oâ€™Brian (Brenda). Two nieces, Traci Mann and Mitzi Phelps and one aunt, Anna Laura Keller.
Mr. David Leigh Kirkman, 53 Maben, MS passed away in Arcola, MS; on Monday, August 12, 2013.
David was the owner of Covered K Arena and of Kirkman Logging, a bull rider, rodeo clown, rodeo announcer and a member of Mathiston First Baptist Church.
August 13, 1927 - August 10, 2013
Terry Leigh Thomas passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Mr. Thomas was a native Mississippian who spent his early years in Louisville, and his adult life in Meridian and Starkville. He was most recently a resident of Ocean Springs, where he moved to be near his daughters, Susie Thomas Ranager and Marty Thomas Kuki.
Gloria Jean Robinson Sherrod, 63, died August 5, 2013 in Starkville, MS.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2013 at West Memorial Funeral Home from 2 - 6 p.m.
Funeral will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Mount Peiler M.B. Church, Starkville, MS with Reverend Charlie Barnes, Sr., officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Peiler Cemetery.
Grace Henry Goodman was born August 2, 1924 to Samuel Archie and Bessie Clardy Henry in Starkville.Â She graduated from Starkville High School and Mississippi State College.Â
Ernest Sanford Griggs, 88, passed away on July 29, 2013 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Griggs and Mable Barnes Griggs.Â
