Jim Case, the head coach of Jacksonville State, was catching up with Jim Ellis, the radio voice of the baseball Bulldogs.

Starkville High’s journey towards state individual tennis titles has not been an easy one.
Moving up to Class 6A this season put the teams against some of the strongest competition in the state.

Eupora’s baseball program is doing just that.
After having lost in the play-in round of the Class 2A postseason last year, the Eagles find themselves one step further this season as they swept Hollandale-Simmons 19-2 and 14-3.

EUPORA – Lack of production at the plate was not a problem for the Lady Eagles of Eupora on Wednesday evening as the team posted 15 hits for 10 runs.
Unfortunately standing across the field was a Hatley team, which had even more success in the batter’s box allowing them to claim a 23-10 victory.

It has been six days since the Starkville Yellowjackets concluded the baseball season and coach Travis Garner has almost had a week to ponder what his first year was like.
When Garner took the job at SHS, he knew he was at "a disadvantage" because coaching in Mississippi was new.

It wasn't the type of baseball seasons that the Starkville Yellowjackets and the Starkville Academy Volunteers wanted to see.
Neither team qualified for the postseason and SHS just squeaked out a winning season with a 14-13 record.

Instead of letting the naysayers get them down, the Volunteers did “everything to win” and in the end produced what coach Jody Britt calls a “good year.”

State baseball set to play final non-conference game of the regular season

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will see their final non-conference game of the regular season today.
MSU (28-17) hosts Jacksonville State (23-19) at Dudy Noble Field. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
Junior left-hander Lucas Laster (0-0, 3.27 ERA) is the expected starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, while the Gamecocks had not announced a starter at press time.
