Moore visits MSU, sees changes

It wasn't too long ago when Tyler Moore was getting ready for his only season with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Moore was preparing to talk to a room full of people excited for the upcoming baseball season on Saturday as he was the special guest for MSU's First Pitch/Fan Day celebration at the Palmeiro Center. 

Bulldog Frazier learns from USA experience

The summer was spent playing baseball games at various places in the United States for many of the Mississippi State baseball players.

For junior shortstop Adam Frazier, it was spent playing all over the world. Frazier played for Team USA during the summer and found himself playing in Europe.

Over the last couple of years, the Bulldogs have experienced more and more success under coach John Cohen.

MSU won the Atlanta Regional two years ago and got within one win of making the school's ninth trip to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

The Missouri women's basketball team has a player that certainly has an "Eye" for the basket.

Sophomore Morgan Eye leads the Tigers by scoring 13.9 points per game and is the best 3-point field goal shooter in the nation by hitting 3.9 per outing from long range.

Softball Bulldogs thrive late to beat Panthers

The Mississippi State softball team wants to win the late innings.

That's exactly what they did Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (3-1) beat Georgia State 9-1 in five innings on the third day of Bulldog Kickoff Classic.

MSU entered the fifth inning with a 3-1 lead after the Panther's MeQuilia Franklin stole home on a double steal.

Tyler Moore has had experience at several different positions during his baseball career.

As a member of the Washington Nationals last season, Moore spent time in left field, right field and first base.

It was a good experience for Moore as Washington won a division title and reached the National League playoffs.

SA girls pull away to win against JA

The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers broke the huddle to open the second half with one word.

"Win."

For the 34th time this season, that's exactly what the Lady Vols did Friday night.

Starkville Academy was locked into a close battle for a half, but ended up outscoring the Jackson Academy Lady Raiders 35-17 in the second half to take a 53-31 victory at home on senior night.

It wasn't the way Mark Alexander wanted to send his seniors out, but there was no lack of effort on his team's part.

Starkville Academy (15-14) fell to Jackson Academy 62-45 on senior night inside the SA Gymnasium.

Seniors Carnail Minor, Brandon Sharp and Matthew Christiansen played their last regular season game on Vols' home court.

Starkville sweeps Aberdeen on road

ABERDEEN – The Starkville High School basketball teams swept Aberdeen on the road to close out the regular season Friday night.

After the Lady Yellowjackets won a 61-44 decision against the Lady Bulldogs, the SHS boys completed the successful night by knocking off the home team 68-63.

West Oktibbeha ends the season with Eupora split

MABEN – Friday night brought a little extra something to the West Oktibbeha gymnasium.

Amidst the basketball action, the Timberwolves took a few moments to honor a few of their own as they celebrated the hard work of their seniors.
