MSU remains fourth after day two

WEST POINT – Mississippi State remains in fourth placed after two rounds of the inaugural Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational with a 598 team total.

The Lady Bulldogs stand at 22-over par which ranks among the best 36-hole totals in the programs history.
Additionally, State stands just 10 shots behind Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky.

Since Dan Mullen took the job as head coach at Mississippi State, he’s waited for today to come. The day the Bulldogs have to deal with success.

During Mullen’s weekly address to the media on Monday, he explained the need for his team to be able to handle a situation it has never faced - learning how to play when you’re having success.

Lady Bulldogs stand in fourth place after day one

WEST POINT – The Mississippi State Lady Bulldog golf team remains in the hunt as it opens play in the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational.

MSU fired a 297 during the first round which was good enough for fourth place after day one.

The 9-over par team total was the fifth-lowest open round ever for the Lady Bulldogs.

Attention turns to Troy: After beating Auburn, MSU moves forward

The Bulldogs opened Southeastern Conference play with a sound 28-10 defeat of the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.

On Sunday, MSU head coach Dan Mullen quickly addressed the win and moved on to Troy.

Lady Bulldogs to host golf event at Old Waverly

Mississippi State’s women’s golf team opens the 2012-13 season today with the inaugural Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational.

When the ladies tee it up at Old Waverly Golf Club later today, it will mark the first time in the 33-year history of the program the Bulldogs will host a regular season event.

Banks, Bulldogs, big win: Playmakers emerge as MSU tops Auburn

It takes big plays during the course of a football game to pull off big victories in the Southeastern Conference.

On Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium, the Mississippi State Bulldogs made several such plays in defeating the Auburn Tigers 28-10. It was the first win in an SEC opener for the Bulldogs since a 17-0 decision over South Carolina in 1999.

For any squad to have a successful season, senior leadership is key. It appears after two games that the Bulldogs are solid in that area.

When Johnthan Banks came to Mississippi State from Class 2A East Webster, it was unknown what type of player he was going to develop into.

In his senior year, it's pretty clear what type of player he is and what he brings to the MSU defense.

Banks intercepted two passes in State's 28-10 victory over Auburn Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.

Vols roll over Rebels: Starkville Academy defeats Leake 45-0

The Starkville Academy Volunteers found their offense and played lock down defense, as it rolled to a blowout victory.

The Vols beat the Leake Academy Rebels 45-0 Friday night at JE Logan Field.

Starkville Academy, which evened its record at 2-2, was coming off two straight losses and although head coach Jeff Terrill didn't feel a sense of urgency, he was glad to get a victory.
