Mississippi State baseball coach John Cohen has been doing a good job of finding talented players from all across the country.
Now, he's even starting to bring them in from outside the United States.
Of the 14 newcomers to the Bulldogs this fall, Cohen is anxious to work with two of them from Canada.
GALLMAN â€“ Michael Miller scored a pair of early rushing touchdowns and the Starkville Academy Volunteers were off and running in winning their second Class AAA-District 2 game of the season over Copiah Academy 40-0 Friday night.
JACKSON â€“ The Starkville Yellowjackets survived a night of three turnovers to escape with a 23-6 Class 5A, Region 2, District 6 victory over the Provine Rams at Hughes Field in the heart of the capital city.
Starkville improved its records to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the region.
Provine took advantage of an early turnover to take the lead in the first quarter.
ACKERMAN â€“ Entering the fourth quarter the offenses for the Ackerman Indians and East Webster Wolverines were looking for one big play.
Ackerman found it in Quinton Lane.
Quarterback Dakota Brasher found Lane for a 63-yard touchdown pass and the Indians slipped past East Webster 6-0 Friday night at Dale Davidson Field in a Class 2A, Region 2, District 4 matchup.

On the field, the Timberwolves picked up their third straight double-digit victory with a 46-24 win over Class A, Region 3, District 4 foe Sebastopol.

The Starkville Yellowjackets make their third trip to the Jackson area of the season tonight when they meet the Provine Rams. Kickoff for the final game of September is set for 7:30 p.m.
After traveling to beat Lanier 48-0 last week, the Jackets make back-to-back visits to the capital city.
The Starkville Academy football team has come to that part of the season where one win or one loss can make or break its season.
Tonight, the Volunteers (3-3, 1-1) travel to Gallman to take on Copiah Academy (0-6, 0-1) at 7 p.m. in a division game.
It has been a long non-division schedule for both Ackerman and East Webster.
This week the Indians and Wolverines square off in each team's first Class 2A, Region 2, District 4 game.
East Webster (5-1) travels to Ackerman (4-2) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
