Redistricting on aldermen agenda

The Starkville Board of Aldermen will consider adopting a new redistricting plan tonight at its meeting.
Two public hearings have been held on various plans drafted by Golden Triangle Planning and Development District, which was picked earlier this year to spearhead the process.

Sitel to lay off 58 call center jobs in Starkville office

Sitel Corp. Vice President of Global Product Management Andrew Kokes has confirmed that 58 employees in the company’s Starkville-based call center will be laid off in September.

Sitel, a business process outsourcing provider based out of Nashville, Tenn., currently has nearly 500 call center employees in Starkville.

County school board rejects lake proposal

The Oktibbeha County School District Board voted Monday to reject the only lease proposal for the Oktibbeha County Lake it received before the July 31 deadline because the proposal did not meet the lake’s appraised value.

MSU releases partial schedule: Bulldogs announce non-conference slate

The Rick Ray era of Mississippi State basketball will begin on the road.

The Bulldogs travel to Troy, Ala. to take on the Trojans on Nov. 9 to open the 2012 season. It will be the first time since 2005 that MSU opens a season away from the friendly confines of Humphrey Coliseum. The trip is part of the inaugural weekend for the state-of-the-art Trojan Arena.

Budget, lake on agenda for OCSB meeting

The Oktibbeha County School District Board will hold a public hearing for its 2012-2013 budget at 5 p.m. Monday at the district’s main office, followed by a regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the same location, during which the board is slated to discuss lease proposals for the Oktibbeha County Lake.

Jones presents on city’s architecture
