Several of the schools in the Oktibbeha County School District are facing serious pressure this school year to raise state standardized test scores.
Mississippi Department of Education representatives visited the Oktibbeha County School District Board of Trusteesâ regular meeting on Monday and updated the board on the situation at East Oktibbeha County Elementary School and East Oktibbeha County High School. The department has spent the last few months working with the struggling schools to help improve not only test scores but student achievement.

OKOLONA â Mrs. Pauline âPollyâ Jolly, 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
Dee Bost now has 167 steals in his Mississippi State career.
The 167th was a pretty important one on Thursday night.
Bost stole a pass with 6 seconds and converted a slam dunk on the other end to help the Bulldogs preserve a 62-58 win over the Tennessee Volunteers in the Southeastern Conference home opener.
Tennessee inbounded the basketball in the frontcourt with 11 seconds remaining down by two when Bost took the ball from Trea Golden, the hottest Vol on the floor, and capped the scoring with his dunk with 4 seconds remaining.
