MSU women are ready for SEC Golf Championship

Mississippi State had an outside shot to win the Southeastern Conference Championship a year ago after the second round.
The Bulldogs shot a 303 in the third round of the event to find themselves 12 shots behind leader Alabama in second place.
The deficit was going to be hard to overcome, and the Bulldogs stumbled in the third round and finished in a tie for fifth place.

Armstrong contributes to Bulldogs as a senior

Derrick Armstrong didn't know what his senior year at Mississippi State was going to offer.
He played in just 39 games and drew 16 starts as the Bulldogs made it all the way to the College World Series in his junior season.
The Bulldog outfielder entered this season with the mindset of gaining more playing time, but with several outfielders vying for three spots, it was going to be tough.

Mississippi State head men's basketball coach Rick Ray announced the signing of Jones County Junior College big man Johnny Zuppardo on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Kiln native chose the Bulldogs over Washington, Wichita State and Tulane.

Lady Jackets sharpen skills for state golf event

Starkville High School girls golfers got the opportunity sharpen their skills on Wednesday afternoon and compete against Class III, Region 2 competition at the same time.
With already a ticket punched to the state tournament, the Lady Yellowjackets took to the Mississippi State Golf Course and finished second to Tupelo 187-226.

Starkville boys have golf season come to end

Four teams out of Class 6A, Region 1, District 2 qualified for the state golf tournament on Wednesday.
Starkville High School just missed being on of those squads.
The Yellowjackets shot a 353 as a team and were edged out of fourth place by Grenada, which finished 11 strokes better with a 342.

Mississippi State coach Vic Schaefer knew if the women's basketball team was going to have success in 2013-14, then there was going to have to be a change.
After his first season where the Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 13-17, Schaefer knew something was going to have to be different and he addressed that with his team immediately following the season.
