The Mississippi State Bulldogs needed a spark coming out of the locker room at halftime.
Kivon Coman and the MSU special teams obliged.
After stopping the UAB Blazers on offense to open the third quarter, Coman blocked a punt by Hunter Mullins and Nick Griffin recovered for the Bulldogs at the 20-yard line.

There were three numbers that were a definite concern for Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen on Saturday.
When his Bulldogs gave up 88, 81 and 75 yards on touchdown passes against the UAB Blazers, it did not make Mullen a happy man.
Mullen pretty much informed the defensive coaches after the game that there would be an early wakeup call today.

Bulldog QB Prescott has another big day

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott became the first player in Mississippi State history to throw for at least four touchdowns while simultaneously rushing for over 100 yards.
He accomplished the feat with five touchdowns and 111 yards rushing in Saturday's 47-34 victory over the UAB Blazers at Davis Wade Stadium.

Jackets go the distance: Kicking and passing game leads SHS over West Point

It was all about going the distance on Friday night for the Starkville High School Yellowjackets.
Whether it was off the foot of Michael Godley or with the passing of quarterback Brady Davis to wide receiver AJ Brown, the Jackets had the knack for the big number.
The results was 34-3 victory over the rival West Point Green Wave at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Volunteers blank visiting Generals

Four grueling quarters were played between Starkville Academy and Washington School, but through it all, the Volunteers had the unit to stand strong for a 24-0 shutout over the Generals Friday night.

Lions pull off another victory at home stadium

SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College has a good bit of success at Sullivan-Windham Field.
The home turf of the Lions was opened in 2011 and EMCC entered Thursday's game with a 17-1 record at home. The lone loss came to Copiah-Lincoln in the 2012 state playoffs. The Wolfpack knocked off the Lions 47-46 that day.
