Slaughter, Dempsey represent Volunteers on MAIS All-Star team

Playing time is no over just yet for a couple of Starkville Academy soccer players.
Even though the season may be in the books, Dylan Dempsey and Blake Slaughter will represent the Volunteers at the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools All-Star Game on Friday.

MSU's Vivians finalist for the Gillom Trophy

Mississippi State's Victoria Vivians has proven to be one of the best freshmen in the Southeastern Conference this season.
It hasn't taken people long to notice what Vivians has meant to the Bulldogs.
In her first season, Vivians has led State to No. 11 in the country, a school record 11-5 record and third-place finish in the SEC and a school mark 26 overall victories.

East Webster beats Byers: Lady Wolverines to make journey to the Big House

MABEN – The East Webster Wolverines are about to take a 136-mile journey.
That is the distance between East Webster High School and the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. 
That's where the Lady Wolverines will be going Friday as they take part in the Class 2A state tournament. A trip earned following a 70-49 defeat of H.W. Byers in Cumberland on Monday night.

He was rewarded for it on Monday.
The Mississippi State sophomore left hander was honored as the Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Dan Mullen had a formula in how to build a winning football team at Mississippi State.
There was one thing he knew for sure – he couldn't do it by himself.
Mullen said everyone that loved and supported the Bulldogs had "to be on the same page" in order to achieve the success that was desired.

Stanford joins SA Volunteer staff

Offseason action has been nonstop for the football team at Starkville Academy.
First up was the departure of head coach Jeff Terrill, who took a position with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, then offensive coordinator Chase Nicholson stepped into the vacant role and now one more coaching change has taken place as Tony Stanford joined the Volunteers staff.

Reason to celebrate: Sunday's success provides better birthday feel for MSU's Schaefer

Mississippi State women's coach Vic Schaefer will enjoy a happy birthday Monday.
"It sure will be a sweet day," Schaefer admitted.
The Bulldogs provided him some early presents on Sunday.
With a 55-47 home victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, MSU locked up the No. 3 seed for next week's Southeastern Conference Tournament and the 11 league wins are the most in a single season for the Bulldogs.

Women's senior class sets example for State's underclassmen
