East Webster captures 2A, Region 3 top spot

Everything was on the line as Eupora and East Webster met on the softball field Monday night.
With the No. 1 spot in the Class 2A, Region 3, District 4 up for grabs, the Lady Wolverines bats were on fire as they celebrated a 12-5 victory to clinch the region title.

Becker's no-hitter leads the Bulldogs

It turned out to be quite a weekend for senior pitcher Stephanie Becker and the Mississippi State softball team.
After setting the career strikeout mark at MSU in Saturday's 6-5 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, Becker was especially effective on Sunday and recorded her second career no-hitter as the Bulldogs defeated the Rebels 8-0 in six innings.

Yellowjackets welcome teams for region event

The Starkville Yellowjackets hope familiar surroundings makes a difference today.
After hosting several meets at the Mississippi State golf course this season, the Jackets and Lady Jackets welcome in the teams from Class 5A, Region 2, District 6 for the region tournament.

Oswalt's first pitch the hit of SBA day

Baseball is back in Starkville and on Saturday things were in full swing at McKee Park.
From the singing of the national anthem by a local high school student Reagan Hunt to major league pitcher Roy Oswalt throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, Saturday was highlighted by non-stop action and fun as the Starkville Baseball Association held its opening day.

Bulldog senior pitcher gets milestone in win

Stephanie Becker has been striking out batters ever since she stepped onto the Mississippi State campus.
On Saturday, Becker etched her name into the MSU record book.
The senior left hander started the game with a strikeout of R.T. Cantillo for her 407th career punch out and set a new MSU career strikeout record in the process.

South Panola blanks SHS

The high school baseball postseason is near and the Starkville Yellowjackets are still looking for the right bats to attack it with.
On Saturday afternoon at home, the Jackets didn't get enough sting from their bats and lost a 1-0 decision to the South Panola Tigers.

Perper, Lady Bulldogs growing

Mississippi State women's tennis player Alexandra "Sasha" Perper believes there can be more wins in her future like the one she got Friday.
Perper defeated the 52nd-ranked player in Texas A&M's NaZari Urbina 6-4, 5-7, 1-0(6) to salvage a win for the Lady Bulldogs at the end of a 6-1 loss to the Aggies at Pitts Tennis Centre.
