East Webster losing games to tough foes

After dropping the last two contests some might be wondering if East Webster’s six-win undefeated start was simply a fluke.
Were they simply lucky? Were they playing what could be called cupcake opponents or are the losses a result of the playing in an extremely competitive division?

Mississippi State softball coach Vann Stuedeman said last week that there would be a baseball-type of mentality brought to games next spring when it comes to managing the pitching staff.

It wasn't the night Mississippi Stat fans expected for homecoming, but at least it was a win.
The Bulldogs struggled for most of the second half, but held on to beat Bowling Green 21-20 Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium.
"That's a good win for us," MSU head coach Dan Mullen said. "A win's a win. We'll take it. That's a very good football team. We knew that coming in though."

OK, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are now 3-3 overall after a 21-20 homecoming victory over Bowling Green.
Let's see what they can do with the rest of the season.
We are now exactly at the halfway point of the season and trying to figure out this bunch of Bulldogs remains a very difficult thing to do.

Russell starts for MSU, Prescott plays fair share

The video board at Davis Wade Stadium introduced both Tyler Russell and Dak Prescott as the starting quarterbacks.
The senior Russell got the start as the took snaps on the Bulldogs' first offensive possession of the game, but Prescott got his fair share of playing time. 

Jackets buzz, beat Hornets

GREENVILLE – The Starkville Yellowjackets stretched their winning streak to four games Friday night by taking a 39-6 road decision over the Greenville-Weston Hornets.
With the victory, Starkville improved to 5-2 overall and remained undefeated in Class 6A, Region 2 at 3-0.
The Yellowjackets struck first with 6:04 remaining in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Princeton Jones.

MABEN – Heading into Friday night, coach Doug Wilson said he wanted to see his team compete.
East Webster listened to its coach and despite losing 42-31 to the Calhoun City Wildcats, the Wolverines never quit.

Eupora loses at home to Bruce

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles were able to find some offense in the first half.
The second half was a different story.
The only points for Eupora in the second half came with 12 seconds left as it fell to the Bruce Trojans 25-20 in a Class 2A, Region 4 matchup Friday night.
With the loss, the Eagles are now 5-1 for the season and 0-1 in division play. They get Okolona at home next Friday night.
