Mississippi State senior outfielder Jessica Offutt has taken the advice of the softball coaching staff and it is beginning to pay off.
In the last two games for the Bulldogs, Offutt has gone 5-of-7 at the plate for a batting average of .714. She has six hits in the last 10 at-bats over a three-game stretch to bat .600.

Pirtle makes plays: MSU senior second baseman solid on defense

Brett Pirtle and the Mississippi State Bulldogs struggled early in the season when it came to fielding the baseball.
MSU committed 10 errors in the first 10 games, but in the last 24 games, the Bulldogs have only had 11 errors.
Pirtle, the senior second baseman who has committed two errors this season, was one of the driving forces behind the cleanup defensively.

Four Yellowjackets qualify for state

BRANDON – The Starkville Yellowjackets advanced a pair of doubles pairing in tennis for the Class 6A individuals state championship match on Wednesday.
Emily Turner, Hannah Laird, Will Irvin and Richard Hill all moved on with their play at the Class 6A, Region 3 Individual Tournament at Northwest Rankin.

When it comes to having a love for archery, which is the meaning of toxophilite, the Yellowjackets have found another way to be competitive within the athletic department and have fun at the same time.
They have participated in four meets in their first-ever season and have performed well.

“I like being in command so pitching is my favorite,” Arnold said. “I like having control of the game. The game sort of depends on me and I like that.”

State hosts Alabama in exhibition match

Members of the Mississippi State soccer program are happy to be kicking off the activities of Super Bulldog Weekend tonight.
Even though the weekend on a calendar starts on Friday, the Bulldogs are included on the SBW schedule of events with an exhibition match against the University of Alabama. Action at the MSU Soccer Complex is set to begin at 7 p.m.
