Rice provided a new warpath with Choctaws

Tory Rice has found a new warpath.
After spending two years with the Itawamba Community College Indians, the former Starkville High School basketball player signed with the Mississippi College Choctaws.
Rice leaves for Clinton on August 23 to begin the next chapter of his academic and basketball life.

Lewis gives the Bulldogs a playmaker

Jameon Lewis is capable of making a big play at any time for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
He is listed as a wide receiver on the roster, but he can line up at running back or quarterback.
The Bulldogs even use Lewis in the kicking game.

The quarterbacks on the Mississippi State roster are doing their part this preseason of pushing each other to get better.
Situations like Saturday's scrimmage helped that process along.
With Dak Prescott, Damian Williams, Nick Fitzgerald, Elijah Staley and Josiah Phillips, there are no shortage of signal callers with the Bulldogs.

Humble Hartness honored for service

Glenn Schmidt does not know how they did it, but somehow Starkville Academy managed to keep a secret until Friday night's Meet the Vols.
That secret was the honoring of longtime public address announcer Ron Hartness by naming the press box at J.E. Logan Field after him.

New group at MSU safeties to carry on tradition

Nickoe Whitley was the nucleus of the Mississippi State safeties the last few seasons. 
He made several big plays, including two big strip fumbles in the last two games of the regular season in 2013 to get the Bulldogs to a bowl game.
He's not there this year, but safeties coach Tony Hughes is confident someone will fill that void.

Whitetail Unlimited banquet features Norwood, Lancaster

The subjects of football and outdoors come together tonight for a good cause as Rick's Cafe in Starkville hosts the second banquet for the Starkville Area Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited.
Two of the guests involved with the banquet to benefit Catch-A-Dream will be Kenneth Lancaster of the Bone Collector television show and former Mississippi State running back Jerious Norwood.

Veteran leadership: MSU cornerbacks lean heavily on experience

Coach Deshea Townsend and his cornerbacks have come a long way since the spring of 2013.
Townsend became the Mississippi State cornerbacks coach the winter before that spring, and he had a mountain to climb. The Bulldogs just lost Johnthan Banks and Darius Slay, two of the better corners in the Southeastern Conference, to the NFL Draft.
He had more youth than veteran leadership.

MSU's Gordon wants Huddleston ready for goal keeper

Mississippi State soccer coach Aaron Gordon found out something last spring about former Starkville Academy athlete Tiffany Huddleston.
Huddleston, now a sophomore, is listed as a forward, midfielder and defender on the roster, but Gordon learned she could also be a pretty good goal keeper.

Blendinger helps LCKC to another national title
