Mississippi State fans will be able to bring their tradition to South Florida over the holiday season.
The MSU athletic department announced Tuesday that cowbells will be permitted at the Capital One Orange Bowl at Sun Life Stadium. The Bulldogs take on Georgia Tech New Year's Eve.

It has been a while since Mississippi State has played in the friendly confines of Humphrey Coliseum. 
The last time was 23 days ago when the Bulldogs beat Clayton State on Nov. 24. Since that time, MSU has played two neutral site games and two true road games. They are 1-3 in those contest and have lost three in a row.

It started last Thursday and ends this coming Sunday with a game in a Las Vegas tournament. Entering Monday night's game, the Bulldogs were two games deep and coming off a victory over Southern Miss Sunday afternoon on the road.

After traveling for a game at Southern Mississippi on Sunday, the MSU women made it back in town and got up for Monday's HailState Hoops Luncheon, then played Mississippi Valley State Monday night.

State defense thinner at the safety position

Mississippi State was already thin at the safety position entering the Egg Bowl against Ole Miss in the regular season finale.
The Bulldogs lost another safety. Junior Kendrick Market suffered an Achilles injury in the first half of that game that will sideline him for the Capital One Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech on New Year's Eve.

East Webster drops decision to Winona in OT

MABEN – A change in schedule may have only provided a boys game on Monday night at East Webster High School, but those in attendance got the most out of their money as the Wolverines and Winona Tigers went into overtime.
From beginning to the very end, it was a tight contest that came down to Winona leaving with a 57-52 victory.

MSU underclassmen Dak Prescott, Benardrick McKinney and Josh Robinson filed papers with the National Football League to see what round they would be drafted in if they came out this year.
