MSU gets good effort from Mintz out of pen

April 4, 2015

Redshirt freshman pitcher Levi Mintz continues to give the Mississippi State Bulldogs solid work in relief this season.
He has been one of the bright spots of a struggling MSU bullpen this season.
Even though Mintz gave up two earned runs to South Carolina in Saturday's 13-7 loss and saw his earned run average go up to 1.69, he was able to settle things down on the mound for a bit.

A GOOD FRIDAY: Yellowjackets get key 6A, Region 3 win over Falcons

April 3, 2015

Friday was not the first time this week that Starkville and Columbus met on the baseball diamond.
Earlier in the week, the Jackets claimed a 15-0 victory over Columbus, but SHS coach Travis Garner knew that win held no account heading into the new game.

SEC series win secured by MSU

April 3, 2015

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were looking for something good to happen during the first weekend in April after losing the first three Southeastern Conference series of the season.
It surely happened.
The Bulldogs beat No. 22 South Carolina 7-5 Friday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field to clinch their first SEC series of the season.
MSU (21-12, 5-6) goes for the sweep today at 2 p.m.

Threesome for Bulldogs deliver three hits each

April 3, 2015

It was a 3-for-3 effort for the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Friday afternoon.
MSU had three players in the lineup with three hits each during a 7-5 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Jake Vickerson, Gavin Collins and Wes Rea did the trick as the Bulldogs had 14 hits as a team.

State takes on Arkansas for Easter weekend set

April 3, 2015

Some teams might consider it a bad thing to be playing a three-game series away from home on a holiday weekend.
Don't count the Mississippi State softball squad as one of those.
The Bulldogs will be making an Easter trip to Fayetteville, Ark., for outings against the Arkansas Razorbacks today, Sunday and Monday.

Bulldogs reach the halfway point of spring practice with scrimmage

April 3, 2015

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have reached the halfway point of spring practice.
The first two weeks ended with a scrimmage at Davis Wade Stadium Friday morning.
MSU head coach Dan Mullen and his staff will go back and look at the film before making any real evaluations, but he saw a good bit of productivity.

Bulldogs beat Gamecocks in baseball

April 2, 2015

It was a complete performance from the Mississippi State baseball team on Thursday night.
From offense, pitching to defense, the Bulldogs played all three aspects of the game well as they took down No. 22 South Carolina 13-2 to open a three-game Southeastern Conference weekend series at Dudy Noble Field.
Cody Brown robbed a home run to seal the victory in the top of the ninth.

Silkwood proves strong for State

April 2, 2015

It's been quite a two weeks for Mississippi State softball pitcher Alexis Silkwood.
In that time span, Silkwood had pitched a no-hitter against Southern Mississippi, a two-hitter against Lipscomb and beaten Florida, the No. 2 team in the country.
She has accomplished all of that for the Bulldogs despite being 5-foot-4 and not a very imposing figure in the circle.

Scrimmage set for MSU football Friday

April 2, 2015

After three weeks of spring practices, Mississippi State finally gets to change the pace a little bit.
The Bulldogs participate in their first spring scrimmage Friday at Davis Wade Stadium. It will begin at 10:15 a.m. and is open to the public.
The first week didn't feature any pads, but the players went with pads all of last week and in the two practices this week.

Moss-Graham Memorial golf tournament helps students reach academic goals

April 2, 2015

In 2011, the community of Choctaw County was shaken when an 18-wheeler collided with a school bus.
Among those on that bus where Phyllis Graham and Steven Moss, a pair of faculty members who spent their days giving back in so many ways to the kids of then Ackerman High School.
Tragically Graham and Moss lost their lives that day, but that did not stop their impact on the community.
