It will be the beginning of a new era when the Starkville Yellowjackets take the field for spring football practice today.
For the first time, the group of athletes from the Oktibbeha County schools will join SHS on the field.
No longer are there Titans or Timberwolves, but they are all Yellowjackets.

Mississippi State had ample opportunities to pick up a couple of wins against Florida this weekend.
The Bulldogs just didn't take advantage.
MSU tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning Sunday, but saw the No. 12 Gators regain the lead in the top of the sixth inning on their way to a 10-5 win and a sweep of the Bulldogs at Dudy Noble Field to end Super Bulldog Weekend.

The Mississippi State softball team has a senior on the team this season with the last name of Gentle.
She didn't take it easy on Tennessee pitching on Sunday afternoon.
Gentle had a solo home run, a grand slam home run and a sacrifice fly to drive in six runs, but the Bulldogs still lost a 16-8 Southeastern Conference decision in six innings to the Lady Volunteers.

Dak Prescott showed why he is the starting quarterback for Mississippi State.
The senior put on a clinic during Mississippi State's Maroon and White spring game Saturday afternoon at Davis Wade Stadium.
Prescott passed for three touchdowns, but his Maroon squad lost 28-24 to the White team in his final spring game of his career.

College football coaches aren't allowed to have contact with the players as they go through summer conditioning and sometimes that seems to last forever.

Third largest softball crowd at MSU sees close loss to Tennessee

The third largest crowd in Mississippi State home softball history of 1,362 fans saw a close and competitive game on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs faced off for game two of their Super Bulldog Weekend series against No. 12 Tennessee.
While the game was certainly toughly fought, it was the Volunteers who saw a 5-3 victory.
