East Webster event mixes in football

MABEN – Football was not necessarily on everyone's mind Saturday in the state of Mississippi.
In the midst of all the football action, East Webster took some time to host a large slow pitch softball tournament.

BRANDON – Starkville's offense gets a good bit of the lion's share of the attention.
The Yellowjackets have yet to trail in a game this season and haven't scored less than 34 points in a contest this year.
The defense has been right there with the offense though.

Vols put up fight, but fall to Patriots

MADISON – Friday night's football game between the Starkville Academy Volunteers and Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots was nothing short of an old-fashioned, hard-nosed football outing.
With defense highlighting the night, MRA claimed the contest 17-10 over No. 1 Starkville Academy to hand the Volunteers their first loss on the season. 

Wolverines hold on to defeat Chieftains

MABEN – It was a tale of two halves in Webster County on Friday night.
After dominating the first half and taking a 24-6 lead into halftime, the East Webster Wolverines found themselves on the ropes in the second half, but held off a furious 16-point rally from Okolona to win 31-22 over the Chieftains.

Eupora remains unbeaten with 34-6 victory at home

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles continued their winning ways on Friday night.
Eupora moved to 7-0 this season with a win over the Saint Joseph Catholic School Bruins 34-6.

The Mississippi State women's basketball team has created some high expectations after a successful run to the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitational Tournament last spring.
With the start of practice two days away, coach Vic Schaefer knows there will be a bullseye to a certain extent on his Bulldogs.

There hasn't been any of that yet for his Yellowjackets.
In fact, SHS has yet to punt in the first three quarters of any game this season. It has only punted 11 times all season.
