Assistant softball coach Mullins takes job at Troy

Mississippi State softball coach Vann Stuedeman will have to fill a void on her coaching staff this offseason.
Bulldog assistant coach Beth Mullins was selected as the new head coach for the Troy softball program earlier this week. She spent three seasons with the Bulldogs.
She becomes the second head coach for the Troy Trojans.

Community excitement: USSSA 11-Under State event expected to benefit Starkville

Youth baseball will add some excitement in town this weekend.
Beginning today, Starkville will serve as host to the United States Specialty Sports Association 11-Under State championships.
In total, 55 teams will converge on the Golden Triangle area, which tournament director Mike Narmour says is sure to directly impact the entire Starkville community.

After looking through applications and taking their time to select the perfect fit, the Volunteers have announced the hiring of 24-year coaching veteran Bruce Allsup as the new boys head coach.

MSU's Lindgren chosen Perfect Game All-American

Jacob Lindgren continues to receive praise for his junior season with Mississippi State. 
The left hander was selected as a first team All-American by Perfect Game's Kendall Rogers on Tuesday. 
It is the third All-American honor Lindgren has received. He was a first team All-American by Baseball America and received second team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Scores of CWS games are close

It's becoming less and less of a surprise that the scores of the College World Series are very close.
When Tupelo native John Gatlin singled to give the Ole Miss Rebels a 2-1 victory over Texas Tech on Tuesday, it was just another in a long line of close and competitive games in Omaha, Neb., especially when it involves schools from Mississippi.

MABEN – The East Webster Wolverines packed a punch when it came to athletics last year.
"It was a great year," East Webster athletic director and football coach Doug Wilson said. "Every team competed and that is all we can ask of our kids. We are always in the hunt. It was just a great season where every game was enjoyed."
